A tree fell on our house.

Thankfully it missed us, but it tore a screen, broke a windowpane, scared the cats and completely squashed our little kitchen garden.
Today, I think I shall be making green tomato chutney.

I'm so glad the damage was minimal and everyone's ok!
Although I am very sorry about cromagnon's tomato plants.
Scary - perhaps it was organised by the biting insects?
Good that no one was hurt though...have the cats recovered?
Bloody hell. I'm relieved to hear you're all ok.
Blimey. What a shame, but good to know there was no major damage.
Thanks everyone!
Men with chainsaws came and moved most of the tree yesterday, and everything's fine. The cats have calmed down, and I now have five jars of slightly-too-runny chutney - more like that Southern "Chow Chow" stuff - and another kilo of green tomatoes for the next batch, which will have to wait until my lung epithelia have recovered from the vinegar fumes.
Goodness, I'm glad the damage wasn't more severe and that you were able to salvage some yumminess out of the tomatoes.
Oh, how sad to lose both a beautiful local tree and a tomato garden before its time. You have my deepest sympathies.
Ow.
Just found your blog, glad to hear the damage wasn't any worse.
Gosh, your cat is the spitting image of mine! Glad no one got hurt.
