My MP is scientifically illiterate

This week I have mostly been coughing, unable to speak except in a painful whisper, and doubly peeved because I'm missing my favourite conference. What could cheer me up more than a reply from my representative in Parliament?

"I believe that it is important that the National Curriculum is adhered to. I do not agree that Creationism should be completely excluded from schools but neither do I wish to see it taught as the only theory. There should be a balanced approach to the various theories of origin."

Oh dear.
The honourable gentleman adds that EDM2708 is now closed for signatures, although I'm pretty sure it was open when I wrote to him in November.

Disheartening. Vote him out, and get well soon.

Perhaps this nothing more than we should expect from people who spend their university lives backstabbing their way up the Student Union ladder rather than actually learning something.

Hope you feel better soon!

I'm mostly impressed by his sheer turn of speed as he whizzes past the point so comprehensively.

In engineering (my job), when a public sector organization wants something built, they put the contract up for tender. After all the contractors bid, a 3rd party engineering company will look over each of the bidders and make sure that they are actually competent to do the job. Only those who are deemed competent are eligible to win the contract.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had something similar for politicians?

Get well soon.
