MMM PIE #2

Behold our Sunday lunch! Cromagnon did the steak and mushroom filling, and I made flaky pastry using the recipe from Huge Furry-Witteringfool's MEAT cookbook. The result was even more yumscrumpshytastic than Pie #1 (a hot water crust pork pie), and all the rolling and folding of the pastry was jolly good fun in a playing-with-plasticene sort of a way.

It makes me want to rap about the pie.

From the Wiki page about Sidney Morgenbesser:

After finishing dinner, Sidney Morgenbesser decides to order dessert. The waitress tells him he has two choices: apple pie and blueberry pie. Sidney orders the apple pie. After a few minutes the waitress returns and says that they also have cherry pie at which point Morgenbesser says "In that case I'll have the blueberry pie."

I get best pie crust results by using 4 oz. unsalted butter and 2 oz. vegetable shortening to each 8 oz. of flour; once these are combined, add a mixture of cold water and beaten egg yolk and (spirit of play or not) handle the dough as little as possible, to avoid making the end-product tough.

Huge Furry Witteringfool is very funny--thank you.

Is Rootlesscosmo's anecdote an instance of the Monty Hall Problem?
